FAQ
Short answers to first questions.
What’s the difference between Contrast and Peach?
Contrast is the browser-native app environment: the editor, dev stack, agents, deploy, and production inspection you’re reading about here. Peach is the React Native simulator that powers Contrast’s native preview; it also ships on its own as a CLI you can run against any React Native repo. Its docs live in the Peach docs.
Do I need to install anything to use Contrast?
No. Contrast runs in the browser: edit, run the dev stack, preview, and deploy without local setup.
Can I start without signing up?
Yes. The editor boots under an anonymous identity, so you can create and edit a project right away. Signing in unlocks AI features and saves your work to your account, and your anonymous project migrates over when you do. See Account and billing.
Can I import an existing GitHub repo?
Projects start in Contrast. GitHub sync bridges a project to a repo for branch pushes, pull requests, and PR review rather than acting as a general repo importer. See GitHub.
What templates can I create from?
Three are available: App and Game (full-stack, with a backend and web + iOS) and Website (a frontend-only web template). The welcome picker offers all three starting points, or you can describe what you want and let an agent choose.
Where do I see prices and usage?
The pricing page has the plan matrix, and the live usage meter in-product shows your remaining AI budget. Account and billing explains how plans and metering work.
Is there a free tier?
Yes. Starter includes local use and $5 free usage every month. Add a card to unlock. You’re only charged if you go over. The monthly allowance needs a verified eligible card and auto top-up enabled, with a spending cap. Pro is $10/mo or $100/yr with $10/mo of usage, up to 10 members and cloud runs that continue unattended. The first month is $5, and yearly gives you two months free. One wallet covers Contrast and peach. See pricing.
Who pays for a collaborator’s AI usage?
When a collaborator’s agents run AI inside a project they belong to, that usage bills to the project owner. Usage outside a shared project bills to whoever ran it.
What native platforms can I ship to?
iOS ships through local builds (Simulator and Device), TestFlight, and App Store review. Android is an export path you build yourself with Gradle or EAS; managed Android builds are on the roadmap. See App Store.
How do I get help?
Email support@contrast.dev about your account, billing, or anything that is not working. In the mobile app, Settings → Give feedback sends a note straight to the team.
